Social Media Coordinator - Fire Department/Csrips (Pt)

Description

The Social Media Coordinator provides social media, digital recruitment and engagement support to the Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department (CSPFD) and the Coral Springs Regional Institute of Public Safety (CSRIPS), under the direction of the Public Safety Marketing Manager. This position is responsible for the development, editing and communication of information designed to keep the public informed of the programs, events, accomplishments and activities for or about the CSPFD and CSRIPS through the use of various social media platforms. Work requires independent judgment in assessing the needs of the organization and recommends strategic direction.

Examples of Duties

  • Writes, proofreads and edits print and digital communications to include: press releases, website content, marketing materials, speeches, video scripts, educational & promotional campaigns, etc.
  • Promotes community outreach that reflects a positive image. Works closely with public information officers to disseminate timely information.
  • Develops and implements measurable social media strategies and campaigns on all major social media platforms.
  • Capture and edit content, including formatting for social media.
  • Performs daily monitoring/responding on social media pages.
  • Increases social media engagement with stakeholders, identifies opportunities, trends, and features in the social media space.
  • Prepares and disseminates emergency information and communications via social media and other platforms.
  • Assumes other special projects and responsibilities as required.
  • Work hours vary and are determined by the needs of the department, which operates 24/7.

Typical Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, or related curriculum. Minimum of two years (2) of experience in related field including social media support, creating print/digital content, coordinating marketing or public relations projects.

Equivalent experience and training will be considered in lieu of education requirement.

Supplemental Information

Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as office or meeting and training rooms, e.g., use of safe workplace practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire and building safety regulations, and traffic signals when driving.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of business English and spelling.
  • Knowledge of the objectives, principles, practices and procedures of community involvement and safety programs and concepts.
  • Knowledge and ongoing training of basic marketing and social media principles
  • Ability to understand, follow and read written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to clearly communicate information both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to develop, coordinate and promote successful social media campaigns.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate marketing projects.
  • Ability to access, operate and maintain various software applications to include Microsoft office suite, Social Media Platforms and the internet.
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment e.g., computer terminals, printers, copy machines, telephone systems, facsimile machines.
  • Skill in written and oral communications for the effective public presentation of fire department events through social media.

Physical Requirements


The work is sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects.
