Position: Social Media & Digital Marketing Manager- Business Improvement Association
Position Summary:
We are looking for a creative storyteller with a knack for digital trends, a love of local businesses and the ability to turn analytics into action.
The Social Media & Digital Marketing Manager for the Downtown Oakville BIA plays a key role in enhancing the visibility of our vibrant district, engaging the community, and driving foot traffic to local businesses. You’ll be responsible for crafting compelling content, managing social media platforms, executing paid digital campaigns, and analyzing performance metrics —all with the goal of fostering economic growth and creating a thriving downtown experience.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Social Media Strategy & Management
- Develop and execute a content calendar for all BIA social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, etc.).
- Create engaging posts, videos, and interactive content to highlight local businesses, events, and initiatives.
- Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and reviews to foster community engagement.
2. Digital Content Creation
- Design graphics, videos, and written content for social media, email campaigns, and the website.
- Work closely with the Director of Marketing to maintain a cohesive brand voice and aesthetic across digital platforms.
- Capture and edit photo and video content from BIA events and local business promotions.
3. Paid Digital Advertising & SEO
- Develop and manage paid social media campaigns (Facebook/Instagram Ads, Google Ads, etc.) to drive engagement and visibility.
- Optimize digital content for SEO, improving organic search rankings for the BIA and its businesses.
- Track and analyze digital marketing performance, adjusting strategies based on data insights.
4. Email Marketing & Website Management
- Plan and execute email marketing campaigns to update businesses, stakeholders, and the community.
- Maintain and update the BIA’s website, ensuring accurate business listings, event pages, and blog content.
- Implement strategies to drive website traffic and increase engagement with BIA content.
5. Community & Business Engagement
- Work with local businesses to create collaborative digital marketing campaigns.
- Highlight and feature businesses, promotions, and success stories through social media takeovers, blog posts, and video spotlights.
- Provide training and support to businesses on social media best practices and digital marketing trends.
6. Performance Tracking & Reporting
- Track and analyze key performance metrics (engagement rates, website traffic, conversions).
- Prepare reports on digital marketing performance, providing recommendations for improvement.
- Stay updated on digital marketing trends and emerging technologies to enhance the BIA’s online presence.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field.
- 2-4 years of experience in social media management, digital marketing, or content creation.
- Strong knowledge of social media platforms, trends, and best practices.
- Experience with graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe Suite), video editing (CapCut, Premiere Pro), and scheduling tools (Hootsuite, Later, Sprout Social, etc.).
- Familiarity with Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite, and SEO and A1 tools.
- Excellent copywriting and storytelling skills with an eye for engaging content.
- Ability to analyze data and adjust marketing strategies based on insights.
- Passion for community development, capturing and creating great content, supporting local businesses, and placemaking.
- This role reports and collaborates with the Senior Marketing Manager.
- This role requires flexibility to attend and capture weekend events. Alternative days off are provided.
Terms of Employment: Full-time (35hr/wk); occasional evening and weekend work required.
