We are excited to announce an opening for the position of Social Policy Advisor. The Advisor will provide analysis, research, and strategic guidance on social issues to inform the development of internal policies and the implementation of programs. Collaborating closely with the management team, the Advisor will evaluate the impact of proposed or existing policies and procedures. This role includes reviewing and updating current policies, drafting new policies, preparing reports, and making recommendations to enhance social outcomes and promote equity. A strong understanding of data analysis and stakeholder engagement is essential for this position.
Funding for this position comes from the Canada Summer Jobs Grant. All applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period.
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
Please note that international students are not eligible. However, recent immigrants who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents are eligible.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze business processes to determine documentation requirements.
- Gather information through research and review of existing documentation.
- Write various types of documentation, such as policies, operational procedures, manuals, job aids, forms, and reference guides.
- Create documents that comply with OFP language, writing style, structure, and format standards.
- Produce documentation for electronic publication.
- Organize, publish, and maintain documents in SharePoint (or similar document management systems) in such a way that information is easily accessible.
- Regular assessments should be performed on the effectiveness of the documents produced.
- Update, edit, and improve existing documents based on current OFP writing standards, quality, and style guidelines. Convert the materials into the current templates when necessary.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with the senior management team and end-users to ensure quality electronic manuals.
Documentation:
- Create comprehensive documentation for manual development.
Qualifications:
- University degree or college diploma within English, Journalism, Technical Writing or similar programs.
- Project management experience is an asset.
- Experience in creating forms is an asset.
- Proven experience in electronic file migration projects, preferably involving OneDrive.
- Solid understanding of document management best practices and data integrity.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 suite, including OneDrive, SharePoint, Excel and Power Automate.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
