Software Application Engineer

FULL TIME

A Software Application Engineer to support the development, maintenance, and troubleshooting of industrial automation systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing software and hardware issues, reviewing and debugging code, and interfacing with Rockwell Automation, Siemens, Fanuc, Allen Bradley and Mitsubishi , Beckhoff software and PLC systems to ensure efficient and reliable operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve software and control system issues in a manufacturing environment.
  • Review and debug software code to ensure operational efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Utilize software shown above to interface with PLCs.
  • Conduct root cause analysis of software failures and implement effective solutions.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including automation engineers, manufacturing teams, and IT support, to ensure seamless system operation.
  • Optimize existing software applications and develop improvements where necessary.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of troubleshooting procedures, code modifications, and system configurations.
  • Support system upgrades, modifications, and integration of new automation technologies.
  • Provide technical support and training to end-users on automation software tools and troubleshooting methodologies.


Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience working in an industrial automation environment.
  • Strong experience with Rockwell Automation software, including Studio 5000, RSLogix, and FactoryTalk.
  • Hands-on experience with PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve software-related issues efficiently.
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as EtherNet/IP, Modbus, and OPC.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and P&IDs.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (e.g., medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or automotive) is an advantage.

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with robotics and motion control systems.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity best practices for industrial control systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities effectively.
