Start Family Mentor

Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate START Family Mentor to support families involved in child welfare and recovery services. This role provides peer support, guidance, and advocacy to help parents navigate systems, maintain recovery, and create safe, stable homes.

This position will be an integral member of the START (Sobriety Treatment and Recovery Team) team consisting of a child welfare social worker and clinical services coordinator. As a member of this team, this position will be located at Orange County Department of Social Services.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide peer support and coaching to families in recovery
• Assist with navigating child welfare, court, and treatment systems
• Transport/accompany clients to appointments
• Connect families to community resources (housing, food, etc.)
• Participate in team meetings and case planning
• Maintain documentation and case records
