Ironworks Inc. is currently seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Fabrication Shop Laborer to support our fabrication team. This is an entry-level position offering a chance to build skills in metalworking. The ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, thrives in a hands-on environment, and takes pride in helping produce high-quality steel components.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Grinding, Wire tool cleaning, Prime painting
- Operate hand-held grinders to smooth and finish steel parts.
- Remove weld spatter, rust, and other surface imperfections to meet blueprint or spec requirements.
- Apply stamps, markings, or labels to identify finished products.
- Assist in preparing parts for welding and fabrication by cleaning or positioning materials.
- Use an electric sprayer to prime paint steel assemblies
2. Material Handling
- Safely lift, carry, or move steel parts and assemblies by hand or with mechanical assistance.
- Organize materials and workpieces in designated staging areas.
- Help load/unload parts to and from machines, welding tables, or storage racks.
3. Packaging & Shipping Support
- Package completed parts for shipment, ensuring protective wrapping and accurate labeling.
- Prepare skids, crates, or containers as needed.
4. Housekeeping & Equipment Maintenance
- Keep workstations, benches, and common areas clean and free from obstructions.
- Assist in the maintenance of tools and equipment (cleaning, minor repairs, and routine inspections).
5. Safety & Team Participation
- Always wear required PPE (gloves, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, hearing protection).
- Follow all shop safety rules, including lockout/tagout and safe lifting procedures.
- Collaborate with welders, fabricators, and supervisors to meet production deadlines.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 1+ year experience using a hand grinder preferred.
- 1+ year experience with an electric sprayer
- Prior experience in metal processing, fabrication, or manufacturing environments strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with basic hand tools and power tools.
- Forklift experience is a plus; in-house training available.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
