Duties
- Thoroughly clean, disinfect, and sterilize surgical instruments, trays, and equipment following strict aseptic techniques and hospital protocols
- Inspect instruments for damage or wear, ensuring all items meet quality standards before reuse
- Manage inventory levels by tracking sterilized supplies, restocking storage areas, and ordering necessary items to prevent shortages
- Maintain accurate documentation of sterilization cycles, instrument processing logs, and quality assurance records
- Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure all necessary instruments are prepared and available for upcoming procedures
- Follow strict safety guidelines related to handling biohazardous materials and infectious waste disposal
- Conduct routine maintenance and calibration of sterilization equipment to ensure optimal performance
Skills
- Strong knowledge of sterile processing procedures and infection control standards
- Proficiency in inventory management to track supplies efficiently and prevent shortages
- Solid understanding of human physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology to identify instrument compatibility and usage needs
- Expertise in aseptic technique to prevent contamination during instrument handling and sterilization processes
- Ability to interpret technical instructions and operate sterilization equipment accurately
- Excellent attention to detail for inspecting instruments and maintaining precise documentation
- Effective communication skills to coordinate with surgical teams and other healthcare professionals
