This position is a member of our External Relations Division.
HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Purchase goods and services for the External Relations Division (ERD) and the Executive Office of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ).
- Purchase equipment, materials, supplies and services for the division; review, prepare, and administer receipts of purchases and payments; and audit invoices and checks for accuracy, receipt of material, and compliance with purchase orders.
- Research available suppliers; solicit, evaluate, and award bids.
- Serve as back-up for purchases of goods and services for the seminar account.
- Assist with training and advise ERD, the Executive Office and division staff on purchasing activities and state and agency regulations.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with State of Texas purchasing and purchasing rules and regulations.
- Certified Texas Contract Developer (CTCD) and/or Certified Texas Contract Manager (CTCM).
- Experience working with:
- Obtaining quotes
- Purchasing technical equipment and/or
- Purchasing supplies
- Purchasing subscriptions and software
- Experience working with:
- Spreadsheets
- Accounting systems, including USAS, CAPPS, Smartbuy Program and/or
- Databases
- Experience answering multi-line telephone, screening telephone calls and providing information to callers.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Graduation from a standard senior high school or its equivalent plus three years of full-time experience in purchasing.
OR
Four years of full-time experience in administrative capacity* involving purchasing experience and responsibilities.
Work Schedule
Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ External Relations Division.
