Position Information
Edward Public School is located in the rural town of Deniliquin, which has a population of approximately 8,000. Nestled along the Edward River in the Southern Riverina region, the school proudly serves a diverse community with an enrolment of around 105 students including 26 who identify as Aboriginal.
The staff and wider community work collaboratively to create meaningful and engaging educational experiences that inspire students to learn, explore and think critically. The school goal is to empower students with the skills and knowledge needed to become informed, active citizens of the future. They offer inclusive, diverse and differentiated programs that ensure every student has access to high quality learning opportunities.
Edward Public School is widely recognised for its welcoming and inclusive environment. Students benefit from a broad range of academic, sporting, creative and cultural opportunities designed to support their growth and interests.
The dedicated and highly experienced staff includes a Principal, Assistant Principal, Assistant Principal Curriculum and Instruction (APC&I), four full time classroom teachers, two part time classroom teachers, Learning and Support teacher, a full time Aboriginal Education Assistant, six School Learning Support Officers (SLSOs). The school operates five mainstream classes and one Multi-Categorical Support Class.
Additional support is provided by a school-based trainee, a part-time school counsellor, a chaplain, and a Home School Liaison Officer. The school also enjoys strong support from an active and engaged Parents and Citizens Association, which plays a vital role in enriching the school community.
Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach Library or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in Library qualifications approved by the NSW Department of Education
- Demonstrated ability to efficiently manage a primary school library using the Oliver Library Management System, including oversight of budgeting, technology, and resource management.
- Proven ability to lead a dynamic, student-centred library environment and innovative activities that foster a passion for literature.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate technology into effective classroom practices that inspire future-focused learners in their research skills.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills, with a strong ability to collaborate effectively with classroom teachers and foster positive relationships within a diverse school community.
