Teacher Science - Doonside Technology High School

Position Information

Doonside Technology High School is a comprehensive high school with a focus on the use of innovative and cutting edge learning to best engage our students. We have a diverse student population with an enrolment of 707 students in 2025, with 18% Aboriginal students. Our Support Unit caters for the needs of 74 students, including students in Stage 6. We focus on fostering a culture of high expectations and a shared commitment from all members of our school community to wellbeing, engagement, learning and success in and beyond school. We provide quality education that enables our students to develop attributes and skills to achieve their full potential and to succeed in their chosen post–school endeavours. Staff are highly professional and dedicated to working diligently to improve the learning opportunities and life options for students. We promote academic and vocational excellence, strong community links and provide a caring, secure and cooperative environment with a vast range of extra curricula programs to support student responsibility. The school attracts significant equity funding to support students with learning disabilities, socio-economic disadvantage and language acquisition. Selection Criteria

  • Approval to teach Stage 4 & 5 Science, Stage 6 Chemistry and approval and/or willingness to teach Stage 6 Biology.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish positive working relationships with students, staff and parents to improve student learning outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver effective and engaging lessons that support the learning of a broad range of abilities, to maximise student growth and promote high expectations for all students.
  • Evidence of effective and supportive classroom management practices to encourage all students to engage with their learning.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
