About the Program

To be eligible to apply for this position under the program, applicants need to:
  • Have been engaged by Curtin as a casual academic in the last two years
  • Be a casual teaching academic with experience teaching at least two terms in the last two years within higher education in Australia

About the Role

The School of Allied Health is looking to strengthen its capacity and leadership in health professional education by appointing several Continuing Academics. We currently have openings in a range of allied health disciplines. These appointments will be at the level of Lecturer (ALB) for teaching-focused (Clinical/Professional) positions. We seek individuals who are passionate about delivering high-quality, modern, and innovative teaching.

The successful candidate is expected to have a growing profile in teaching and service/leadership. They are likely to lead or coordinate the work of other staff. The incumbent is also expected to have a thorough knowledge of their subject within their discipline.

Lecturer (ALB) Full-time (part-time will be considered).

Selection Criteria
  • A doctoral qualification in relevant discipline (or equivalent accreditation and professional standing for Teaching Focused Clinical Professional role).
  • Experience in teaching and /or professional practice in one of more of the discipline areas in the School of Allied Health (exercise science, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, social work, speech pathology)
  • Demonstrated high level teaching skills and a demonstrated reflective approach to teaching delivery (including clinical supervision, teaching staff).
  • A strong understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practice relevant to the discipline.
  • An emerging record of contribution to scholarship in teaching.
  • Demonstrated experience / capacity to undertake unit coordination.
  • Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal and organisational skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the application of relevant and applicable policies, procedures and legislation in the day-to-day performance of the functions of this position.
Role Requirements:
  • As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered.
  • This role might require that the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check.
  • You are required to be a current AHPRA registered (occupational therapy and physiotherapy applicants only).
