Technical Support Specialist

Particle Measuring Systems (PMS) sets the standard for cleanroom contamination monitoring. With more than 60 patents, we create the technology that enables our customers to make fact-based decisions, improve process yields and comply with ever-changing regulatory requirements.
The Role
To continue to maintain an excellent reputation with our customers, we are looking for a Technical Support Specialist - Hardware for our Service Department. The successful candidate will join our global service team providing technical support to our global customers, subsidiaries and distributors related to our environmental monitoring hardware.
Specific Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide solutions to customer questions regarding hardware set up, operation, etc.
  • Provide solutions to international subsidiaries and distributors regarding hardware set up, parts replacement, upgrade solutions, etc.
  • Interact with engineering and applications to understand required solutions and provide these solutions to customers, subsidiaries and distributors.
  • Ability to review, process and approve warranty claims in a global service environment
  • Provide technical reports to customers for calibration out of tolerance instances.
  • Escalate customer issues to the product and service team
  • Participate in knowledge capturing (creating and updating knowledge resources like product bulletins, service bulletins, FAQs, procedures and documentation)
  • Review and approve engineering changes related to product servicing
  • Support sales personnel with product configuration and application
  • Administer and comply with all Environmental, Health and Safety policy, procedures as set forth by Federal, State and company directives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Preferred Experience
  • Auditing or quality assurance experience
  • Lean manufacturing experience
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Proven ability to work across functional, cultural and international boundaries
  • Proven time management skills
  • Ability to think critically while solving problems.
Qualifications:
  • Please note this is NOT an IT position
  • Technical background in electronic instruments, metrology, or lasers. Associate degree in Electronics or equivalent military experience is required. BS degree is a plus.
  • 3 or more years of relevant experience in measuring equipment or electronic instruments
  • Requires some domestic and international travel (<15%)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Auditing or quality assurance experience
  • Excellent customer focus and service skills.
  • Hardware troubleshooting experience.
  • Collaborative work style.
  • Lean manufacturing experience
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • PC literacy from a user perspective, basic understanding of Microsoft office.
  • Proven ability to work across functional, cultural and international boundaries
  • Proven time management skills
  • Ability to think critically while solving problems.
The Nuts and Bolts
Location –This is an “in-office” position 100% of the time with COVID-19 precautions being taken. The location of this position is in Boulder, Colorado.

Pay Range
$25-34 depending upon experience
How we determine what we pay (compensation philosophy)
Particle Measuring Systems determines pay for positions using local, national, and industry-specific survey data, for the Boulder, Colorado area. We will evaluate external equity, which is the relative marketplace job worth of jobs directly comparable to jobs within our company.
For new hires, we to make competitive offers between the minimum and around the midpoint of the range. This allows the new employee room for future merit increases during review cycles. There may be times when we will offer above the midpoint. The decision to do so will be based on the applicant’s level of experience, education, and specialized knowledge and skills. Additionally, we consider the external market rate, the amount we have budgeted internally, and the compensation rates of the employees within the company doing the same position.
