Bon Secours Hospital Cork is part of the Bon Secours Health System which is the largest independent hospital group in Ireland with over 2,500 staff including 350 leading consultants. We treat more than 200,000 patients annually.
We are recruiting a Theatre Cleaner to join our team.
Key responsibilities:
1. Cleaning Duties:
  • Clean and disinfect patient rooms, including beds, furniture, and bathrooms.
  • Maintain cleanliness in public areas such as hallways, waiting rooms, and restrooms.
  • Clean and sanitize operating rooms, laboratories, and other specialized areas following strict protocols.
  • Remove and dispose of waste, including hazardous waste, in accordance with safety regulations.
2. Infection Control:
  • Follow infection control procedures to minimize the risk of spreading infections.
  • Use appropriate cleaning products and disinfectants as per guidelines.
  • Wear and dispose of personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly.
3. Equipment and Supplies:
  • Maintain and store cleaning equipment properly.
  • Replenish cleaning supplies and report shortages to the supervisor.
  • Ensure all cleaning equipment is cleaned and maintained in good working order.
4. Compliance and Safety:
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations.
  • Participate in training sessions on infection control and health and safety.
  • Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the supervisor immediately.
5. Communication:
  • Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare staff, and colleagues.
  • Report any incidents or concerns to the supervisor.
6. General:
  • Support other cleaning operatives and assist with training new staff.
  • Follow all organizational policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Previous experience in a cleaning role, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of infection control practices and health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to follow strict protocols and guidelines.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to perform manual tasks.
Working Conditions:
  • The role may involve working shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Work may involve exposure to potentially hazardous materials and environments.
  • The position requires standing, bending, and lifting for extended periods.
