Traffic Servicer 1 (Temporary)

Under the general supervision of the Traffic Servicer 2, the Traffic Servicer 1 assists in the installation and maintenance of traffic signs and pavement markings.

As the Traffic Servicer 1 you will:

  • Assist in the installation and maintenance of traffic signs by following standard operating procedures through requested work orders and the general maintenance of pavement markings.
  • Assist in the installation and maintenance of temporary traffic control signs by following the manual of temporary traffic control for road closures, detours, diversions for construction projects and special events.
  • Assist in sign shop maintenance by performing general housekeeping duties to ensure the sign shop is organized, clean and safe.
  • Assist with conducting inspections and surveys of signs within work areas.

Your education and qualifications include:

  • Grade 11 or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Experience working as general labour in a related field (such as construction, maintenance, etc.)
  • Experience with handheld tools including but not limited to:
    • Drills
    • Wrenches
    • Sledge Hammers
    • Hammers
    • Screw Drivers
    • Quick Cut Concrete Saw
  • Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work in a team and establish positive working relationships.
  • Ability to follow direction/instruction for assigned tasks.
  • Knowledge of City of Winnipeg occupational hazards and safety precaution policies and regulations and the ability to adhere to and enforce safety rules and policies.

Conditions of employment:

  • The successful applicant must maintain legal eligibility to work in Canada. If the successful applicant possesses a work permit, it is their responsibility to ensure the permit remains valid.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver’s License. Successful candidates will be required to provide a valid Driver’s Notice in Force document.
  • Must be physically capable of performing work which may involve: working in heavy traffic, extreme weather conditions, at heights up to 24 feet above ground, and lifting up to 50lbs. in weight.
