The Water Quality Legal Counsel Latin America will be responsible for providing leadership, guidance, direction, and support in a broad range of legal, regulatory, compliance, and business matters across the Latin America region for the Water Quality Segment of Veralto Corporation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide legal advice, counsel, and services to Veralto, its Water Quality Segment, and subsidiaries in Latin America, supporting business goals and addressing challenges with appropriate legal and compliance strategies.
- Collaborate with leadership, department managers, and staff across the organization to establish policies and procedures that support effective, compliant, and efficient business practices aligned with global and local laws.
- Negotiate, strategize, and draft a variety of commercial transactions and contracts, including distribution, dealer, and sales agency agreements.
- Assist in the development and implementation of policies, training, and programs related to anti-corruption and ethical business practices.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with executive leadership and strategic partners; proactively advise on risk prioritization and continuous process and control improvements.
- Support dispute resolution strategies, manage litigation and arbitrations, and provide regular updates to business leadership.
- Promote a culture of operational excellence and sound risk management.
- Collaborate with the compliance team to identify and mitigate risks, conduct investigations, and implement corrective action plans.
- Support mergers and acquisitions activities, from due diligence through documentation, depending on experience and context.
- Act as the legal liaison for the business leaders, guiding the use of internal legal resources and managing relationships with external counsel.
- Ensure timely, cost-effective legal support across the region by cultivating relationships with external counsel, negotiating fees, and optimizing in-house versus external workload distribution.
Work closely with Human Resources to support employee relations and labor law matters.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Law degree from a recognized institution in Brazil, another Latin American country, the U.S., or Europe.
- 10–15 years of legal experience in a dynamic business environment, preferably within a multinational company and/or law firm.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally (approximately 20–30%).
- Fluency in Portuguese, Spanish, and English required; additional language skills are a plus.
- Experience in regulated industries is preferred.
- Proven ability to operate in a complex, global, matrixed corporate structure.
- Strong business partner mindset, capable of balancing legal risks with business objectives.
- Ability to clearly explain complex legal concepts to business stakeholders with varying levels of legal understanding.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate legal and business priorities in clear, accessible terms.
- Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct in all internal and external interactions.
- Resilient, agile, and adaptable to changing business needs and ambiguity.
