Pay Range: MEDICAL OFFICE RECEPTIONIST (MSO) - $21.00 to $31.15

Job Summary:

The Medical Office Receptionist (MOR) maintains a clean, organized and safe environment. The MOR organizes and performs services, including collecting patient data in person and by phone and documenting patient concerns, messages and care provided in the electronic medical record (EMR) for the physician's review, scheduling of appointments and procedures, complete and accurate message taking, routing messages to the appropriate area for direction, order and referral entry, acquisition of pre-certifications and setting up of cases, and basic registration and updating of demographics.

Licensure:

  • Current BLS card (American Heart Association provider)

Education:

  • Related coursework in healthcare or office administration preferred

Experience:

  • Two years minimum in health care setting such as a medical office or insurance billing.
  • Minimum two years of EMR/EHR experience – Highly Preferred.
  • Experience or knowledge of Medical Billing – Highly Preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of third party reimbursement especially HMO/ PPO.
  • Ability to efficiently manage time and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Basic medical terminology.
  • Computer skills
  • Strong interpersonal , customer service and communication skills

Physical Demands – Clerical/Administrative Patient Care:

  • Frequent sitting and standing/walking with frequent position change.
  • Continuous use of bilateral upper extremities in fine motor activities requiring fingering, grasping, and forward reaching between waist and chest level.
  • Occasional/intermittent reaching at or above shoulder level.
  • Occasional/intermittent bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing/pulling, twisting, and climbing.
  • Occasional/intermittent lifting and carrying objects/equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Continuous use of near vision, hearing and verbal communication skills in handling telephone calls, interacting with customers and co-workers and performing job duties.
