About the Role:
We are seeking a highly capable and hands-on Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day hotel operations at Sherwood Queenstown. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this critical leadership role oversees Front Office, Reservations, Housekeeping, and Maintenance, ensuring seamless operational performance and exceptional guest experiences across the property.
You will play a key role in driving operational excellence, team engagement, and service standards while maintaining Sherwood’s unique identity and commitment to sustainability, creativity, and community. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the continued success and evolution of one of Queenstown’s most distinctive boutique hotels.
This is a full-time leadership position with a minimum guaranteed 40 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and oversee daily hotel operations across Front Office, Reservations, Housekeeping, and Maintenance.
• Drive operational excellence by ensuring exceptional guest experiences and consistent service delivery.
• Build, develop, and lead high-performing teams, fostering a positive and engaged workplace culture.
• Monitor operational performance, staffing, and productivity to ensure efficiency and alignment with business goals.
• Ensure compliance with brand standards, health and safety requirements, and operational procedures.
• Collaborate closely with the General Manager and leadership team to support strategic initiatives and continuous improvement.

You are an experienced hotel operations leader with a passion for boutique hospitality and delivering meaningful guest experiences. You bring strong leadership capability, operational expertise, and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.

You’ll have:

• Proven experience in hotel operations leadership, overseeing multiple operational departments.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop, motivate, and inspire diverse teams.
• Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
• Solid operational and financial understanding, including staffing, productivity, and service performance.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Passion for boutique hospitality and alignment with Sherwood’s sustainability and community-focused values.
