As an Application Support Engineer at OCBC, you'll play a critical role in ensuring our systems and infrastructure are secure, efficient, and always available. How you succeed
To succeed in this role, you'll need to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to technology trends and advancements. You'll work closely with our technology teams to design, implement, and maintain our infrastructure, ensuring it's aligned with our business goals and objectives. You'll need to be proactive, collaborative, and always looking for ways to improve our systems and processes.

What you do

  • Provide L2 support for applications, including troubleshooting, issue resolution, and root cause analysis for microservices applications .

  • Analyze issues raised by users or reported by monitoring systems and provide workaround solutions.

  • Work closely with Level 3 support teams to ensure prompt and comprehensive resolution of complex issues, while independently handling and resolving lower-level problems.

  • Understand job dependencies and recover failed jobs

  • Define and implement job automation

  • Support regular simulation of disaster recovery scenarios

  • Specify monitoring requirements and observe system abnormalities to prevent issues

  • Conduct application capacity planning and performance tuning

  • Perform regular application reviews to ensure compliance with technology security standards

  • Communicate with internal IT, business units, and external vendors to resolve issues and improve application performance


Who you are

  • Minimum 8-10 years of IT experience, preferably in the banking or financial institution industry

  • Strong technical skillset in shell scripting, Java, PostgreSQL, SQL scripting, Kafka, Kubernetes/Docker, OpenShift, IBM MQ, Redis, Grafana, and Kibana.

  • Solid understanding of container platforms, DevOps methodologies, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure while managing and prioritizing multiple tasks

  • Proactive and flexible, with a strong commitment to customer satisfaction
