The Regional Marketing team is responsible for in-app campaign planning, product marketing, partnerships and content strategy to drive acquisition and engagement. The Regional Brand and Growth Marketing team covers all aspects of online and performance marketing, which involve tracking and measuring data to better reach our users. About the Team:
We are looking for an experienced communications professional to join as Assistant Manager, Regional Corporate Communications. This is an individual contributor role that spans strategic thinking and hands-on execution, and requires the judgment and versatility to handle complex, high-stakes workstreams with a degree of autonomy. These include regional narrative development, senior stakeholder engagement, and sophisticated media relations work. The role works closely with communications leads across markets and functions, as well as senior stakeholders across the business.
Job Description:
Strategic Communications
Support the development and execution of regional corporate communications strategies, ensuring alignment with Shopee's business objectives and brand positioning across markets.
Identify and assess emerging reputational risks and issues, developing proactive strategies to protect and strengthen Shopee's standing.
Support issues and crisis communications work, including scenario planning, materials development, and response execution.
Communications Planning & Execution
Lead the planning and execution of regional communications initiatives, from concept through delivery, ensuring outputs are accurate, aligned, and reflective of Shopee's values and positioning.
Oversee the development of communications materials, including press releases, messaging documents, and FAQs.
Thought Leadership
Lead the development of thought leadership strategies that strengthen Shopee's reputation and credibility, identifying the right platforms, angles, and narratives.
Produce and oversee high-quality content including op-eds, bylines, and other long-form communications, to build the company's voice and standing.
Develop executive communications assets, including speeches, talking points, and messaging for senior leadership visibility moments.
Media Relations
Manage complex and sensitive media interactions, including proactive story shaping and issues handling that require seasoned judgment and strong journalist relationships.
Drive the team's media relations approach, setting the strategic direction for how Shopee engages with media to generate strong, positive coverage.
Market Excellence
Lead and guide market communications teams across the region, providing strategic direction, critical oversight, and hands-on counsel to elevate the quality and impact of their work.
Drive capability building across markets through structured guidance, feedback, and training initiatives that raise communications standards region-wide.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
At least 10 years of professional experience in corporate communications or public relations, in-house or agency.
Exposure to the Southeast Asia media landscape and regional communications environment is an advantage.
Strong existing relationships with regional and local media across Southeast Asia would be an advantage.
Demonstrated ability to develop and execute corporate communications strategies, with strong instincts for narrative, positioning, and reputation management.
Proven experience in media relations, including managing complex and sensitive media interactions with confidence and sound judgment.
Strong writing ability, with experience producing high-quality communications content including thought leadership pieces, press releases, and executive communications.
Comfortable engaging with and influencing senior stakeholders, and able to hold their own in a dynamic environment.
Able to work independently and take ownership of complex workstreams with a high degree of autonomy.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to guide, influence, and build relationships across markets and functions without formal authority.
