Embedded Software Developer

Fortum Spring started as an internal start up inside Fortum, but as the business grew and became more mature, we are now an essential part of Fortum’s B2B offering. Our virtual battery enables flexible electricity consumption and storages to act together as one and support the increase of renewable energy. We have built multiple operational and growing business cases in the Nordics and are now scaling up and further aiming at a significant impact.

About the role

We are looking for a (senior) embedded software developer. Your main responsibility would be to develop our connectivity and communications solutions that are implemented at customers premises. You would be working as a part of a larger software development team, comprising of a product owner, a scrum master and several software developers. You would lead the embedded side of the development activities by contributing to writing the embedded software, but also defining the structure of the implementation and it’s relation to the rest of the system.

What we are looking for

• An ideal candidate would have deep technical understanding and experience in developing and implementing embedded software and understanding how it works as a part of a larger cloud based system
• Advanced understanding and working experience with following topics is required:
• MQTT
• Can-bus
• Python
• Modbus
• Embedded systems based on Linux OS
• Working experience with Github and AWS + AWS IoT core
• Working experience with Jira and Confluence
• Understanding about SCRUM / Agile development frameworks
• Relevant educational background
• Full professional proficiency in English, Nordic languages considered as advantages, but working language in the team is English.

Additionally following skills / competences are considered as an advantage

• Understanding of the Nordic electricity market, especially ancillary services
• Understanding and experience on battery energy storage systems
• Experience on demand response
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment, where priorities can be shifted if needed
