Human Resources Manager

Dockside Cannabis is a Washington State Licensed (I-502) retailer specializing in quality medical and recreational cannabis products and accessories. We currently manage stores in SoDo, Ballard, and Green Lake.

Position Summary

The Human Resources Manager leads and executes HR strategies that support employee development, leadership training, and overall organizational effectiveness across Dockside’s retail and corporate teams. This role is a hands-on HR Manager position with some generalist responsibilities. You will manage the full employee lifecycle, including training and development, performance management, employee relations, and compliance.

As an individual contributor, this position balances strategic initiatives with day-to-day HR operations, including benefits administration, leave of absence management, payroll coordination, and other key HR functions. This hybrid role requires periodic travel to retail locations and close partnership with leadership to strengthen culture, engagement, and retention.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Employee Development & Leadership Training
    • Design and deliver training programs, onboarding, and leadership development initiatives
    • Build structured learning modules to support employee growth and internal mobility
  • Performance Management & Retention
    • Lead performance reviews, goal setting, and partner in succession planning
    • Partner with leaders to drive employee engagement and retention strategies
  • Employee Relations
    • Advise managers and employees on workplace issues, investigations, and conflict resolution
    • Support disciplinary actions and ensure fair, consistent practices
  • HR Administration & Compliance
    • Manage leaves of absence (FMLA, WA PFML, ADA, LNI and ESD) and ensure compliance with employment laws
    • Oversee unemployment claims, wage garnishments, and HR documentation
    • Support accurate and timely payroll processing
  • Benefits & Compensation
    • Administer employee benefits and support compensation practices
    • Serve as a resource for employee benefits and enrollment
  • Recruitment & Onboarding
    • Lead hiring for corporate roles and support retail recruitment
    • Maintain job descriptions and oversee onboarding experience
  • HR Systems & Operations
    • Manage HRIS systems and reporting
    • Track HR metrics to inform decisions and improve processes
  • Leadership Partnership
    • Collaborate with leadership on HR strategy, policies, and best practices


Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required, Graduate degree(s) preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of human resource management experience is required.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP is highly desired.
