The Engineering and Technology team is at the core of the Shopee platform development. The team is made up of a group of passionate engineers from all over the world, striving to build the best systems with the most suitable technologies. Our engineers do not merely solve problems at hand; We build foundations for a long-lasting future. We don't limit ourselves on what we can or can't do; we take matters into our own hands even if it means drilling down to the bottom layer of the computing platform. Shopee's hyper-growing business scale has transformed most "innocent" problems into huge technical challenges, and there is no better place to experience it first-hand if you love technologies as much as we do.
The Release Management (RM) Team serves as the gatekeeper of the Group’s software delivery lifecycle. Our mission is to balance the "velocity" of business innovation with the "stability" of our production environments. We ensure that every code change, from Marketplace features to core services, is deployed safely, predictably, and efficiently.
As a Technical Project Manager in this team, you will hold a dual role: orchestrating complex release cycles across global markets and acting as the Product Owner for the Release Engine - our in-house automated deployment platform. You will bridge the gap between Development, Product, and Operations to build a standardized and efficient delivery ecosystem.
- Release Process Governance: Oversee the end-to-end release lifecycle. Define, optimize, and maintain the Group’s Release Calendar, deployment windows, and governance frameworks for both regular and emergency releases.
- Product Ownership (Release Engine): Define the product roadmap for the Release Engine and associated delivery tools. Translate operational pain points into technical requirements to enhance the release system’s capabilities.
- Release Coordination & Execution: Act as the RM in-charge during deployment windows. Orchestrate activities between Developers, Product Managers, and QA teams to manage dependencies, resolve bottlenecks, and ensure a seamless release execution.
- Risk & Change Management: Conduct rigorous risk assessments for all production changes. Ensure that every deployment adheres to release standards, compliance requirements, and operational stability protocols.
- Bachelor’s Degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related technical/business discipline.
- Familiar with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and CI/CD methodologies.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and a strategic mindset to effectively engage and advise both internal and external partners.
- Excellent documentation and reporting skills, ensuring clear, concise, and timely information flow among all stakeholders.
- Result-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to drill down into technical details while maintaining a big-picture perspective.
- Experience in project management, service delivery, or release management is a plus.
