Quality Technician

The Quality Technician is responsible for completing advanced measurements including those needed for new project launches, calibrating measuring equipment and maintaining records of calibration, and programming inspection equipment. The quality technician will be involved in a variety of projects, which include new product development, resolving quality problems, improving areas of high quality costs. Work will be done in collaboration with cross functional teams including engineering, project management, quality and production, and directed by senior members of the quality department.

Core Competencies:

  • Review, Execute and document advanced measurement activities (to include first article inspections, capability studies, MSA, etc.).
  • Calibrate measurement equipment and maintain records of calibration, as well as ensure all other activities involved in the calibration process are completed.
  • Technical capability to independently complete dimensional and functional measurements with an understanding of best practices for using various types of automated and manual inspection equipment
  • Train personnel to newly established inspection processes and measurement methods as needed.
  • Must be able to read and understand engineering drawings, GD&T, product specifications, etc.
  • Assist with the engineering change order process.
  • Assist in the execution of the Quality plans and First Article completion for the new product processes and current production processes.
  • Provide technical support to resolve quality problems in manufacturing or with suppliers as warranted.
  • Support the goals of the Quality Department and Improvement Projects. Contribute ideas to these programs and work on implementation.

Education

  • 2 or 4-year degree in engineering or technical field or equivalent experience

Experience and proficiencies

  • 3+ years of experience in quality in manufacturing, preferably in a plastics manufacturing environment with a high level of competence in inspection and documentation
  • Ability to write technical documentation, including procedures and work instructions.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills (including data interpretation and reporting)
  • Problem Solving and Critical Thinking to evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Must have good organizational skills; able to prioritize multiple projects.
  • PPAP, IQ, OQ, PQ, FMEA, CONTROL PLANS, DOE, GRR, risk management, problem solving
  • Working within a Quality System experience (i.e. ISO, AS, GMP, etc.)
  • Ability to use a computer and Microsoft software
