The position is remotely based in the Midwest region of the United States.
- Possess and deliver a diverse skill set including knowledge of animal husbandry, systems management, supplier relationship management, account management and technical writing.
- Lead a team of on-site technical program employees who are responsible for disseminating PIC genetic improvement from the Sire Line Nucleus herds, through the Supply Chain, to customers in the most efficient and cost-effective means possible.
- Develop, manage and support a competent staff capable of implementing the supply chain strategy and product quality initiatives.
- Identify growth opportunities with existing and prospective sire line accounts.
- Remain current in your area of responsibility through establishing a network of industry & academic contacts, studying literature and attending scientific/industry meetings.
- Implement genetic improvement strategies in a timely and efficient manner to the benefit of customer and multiplication partners.
- Maintain product quality to specific standards and address customer quality concerns.
- Ensure accurate reporting of all product inventories on a timely basis.
- Keep proficient in relevant new production technologies and practices.
- Collaborate with the PIC Technical Services for the delivery of specific services.
- Lead Contract Sire Line Farms to meet PIC and Genus expectations.
Basic Qualifications (required)
- A university degree, preferably in an animal science field.
- A minimum of 5 years of proven experience and results in swine production, including an in-depth understanding of concepts, theories and principles in animal production and basic knowledge of other disciplines/departments.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications; ability to learn new software programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A master’s degree in a relevant agricultural/biotechnology field.
