Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Payable Officer to join our team supporting an Australian consumer finance client.
In this role, you will be responsible for handling the company's payment processes, ensuring accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices, maintaining creditor accounts, and supporting financial operations.
You will also collaborate with other departments to resolve invoice discrepancies, support audits, and assist with month-end and year-end closings.
The ideal candidate will have strong organisational skills, a high level of accuracy, and the
ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Process supplier invoices in multiple currencies accurately and on time.
- Prepare EFTs and ensure supplier payments meet agreed terms.
- Verify that all expenses and payments are properly authorized and entered correctly into the system.
- Address and resolve supplier queries and invoice discrepancies professionally.
- Maintain and update creditor accounts, including adding new suppliers.
- Post journal entries and record all business transactions accurately.
- Reconcile accounts payable and update regularly.
- Prepare and reconcile daily bank and cash reports, supporting daily cash updates.
- Coordinate branch cash deliveries and collections as needed.
- Assist in preparing financial statements like balance sheets and income statements in line with legal and company standards.
- Ensure accurate month-end processes are completed on time.
- Manage company corporate cards and staff reimbursements.
- Continuously seek process improvements and explore automation opportunities.
- Create, review, and update process documentation as needed.
- Assist the Finance team with audits and accounting issues.
- Support senior accountants in monthly and yearly closings.
- Prepare monthly general ledger journals and reconciliations.
- Maintain fixed asset and lease registers.
- Collaborate with internal departments as required.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by your Manager, CFO, or CEO.
We’re Looking for:
- Sound experience in Accounts Payable in a high-volume environment.
- Competent spoken and written English.
- Strong knowledge of accounting, tax, and reconciliations related to accounts payable.
- Solid understanding of the Purchase to Pay process.
- Experience handling foreign currencies.
- Familiarity with NetSuite (preferred but not essential).
- Experience with purchase order systems (preferred but not essential).
