Accounts Receivable Intern

About the role

This role offers hands‑on experience in accounts receivable operations, customer‑facing activity, and financial administration, with a particular focus on supporting one of our loyalty programmes, Foodstuffs Gift Vouchers. You’ll work closely with internal and external stakeholders while developing a strong understanding of how finance operations support the wider business.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the day‑to‑day management of Foodstuffs Gift Vouchers, including processing requests, invoicing orders, validating payments, activating vouchers, and coordinating packing and dispatch.
  • Respond to and manage customer and internal queries through ticketing systems, ensuring timely and professional communication.
  • Ensure financial transactions are processed accurately and in line with company policies and procedures.
  • Identify recurring issues and support the team to investigate root causes and develop practical solutions.
  • Contribute to team initiatives, project work, and cross‑team training opportunities where required.

About you

You’re curious, detail‑focused, and keen to learn how accounts receivable and finance operations work in a large organisation. You enjoy working with data and processes, bring a customer‑centric mindset and you’re comfortable handling a high volume of work while maintaining accuracy and professionalism. You’re confident using Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications and are keen to build your experience in finance operations.

About you

Ability to work with data using a diligent, detail‑focused approach. You’re proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, and confident using Excel for data analysis, including pivot tables, graphs and charts, and basic formulas. You have exposure to, or an interest in developing skills in, Power BI to support reporting and insights. You’re currently studying towards, or have recently completed, a qualification in Property, Planning, or Law, or a related discipline, and you’re curious, organised, and keen to learn, with a genuine interest in property.
Our internship programme offers
  • 12-weeks paid work at living wage starting in November based in Māngere, Auckland.
  • Renowned learning and development sessions fortnightly.
  • An extensive support network - your People Leader, the Talent Team, a Kaiārahi (mentor) and your fellow interns to help you along the way.
  • The opportunity to tackle real-world business problems that help us achieve our aspiration – to help New Zealanders get more out of life.
  • Modern office spaces with free parking, subsidised lunches, flexible working, weekly supplier tastings and regular celebrations.
  • 5% in store and online discount in our supermarkets.
We’re looking for someone who is interested in discovering their career with us.
