Assistant Manager - Internal and External Budgets, EL1

About the role
As the Assistant Manager, Internal and External Budgets, coordinate budget processes for both internal and external budgets, and prepare complex financial reports and analysis in a small team.
In this role, with the support of your supervisors, you will:
- prepare and present complex management reports and analysis including management reports to support decision making, annual budgets and monthly forecasts, costing submissions for new policy proposals and budget submissions
- develop a robust budget management system to support the development of external budget assumptions and reporting
- develop systems, models, processes and sound analysis to support the internal allocation of resources across the ACMA
- build productive networks with key stakeholders within the Department, external and other stakeholders as appropriate
- identify strategic business improvement opportunities within the Branch and across the ACMA, including streamlining and simplifying policies and practices
- plan and supervise APS level team members to ensure timely and accurate delivery of outcomes
- plan and direct activities to ensure timely deliverables that are within budget

We are seeking someone curious, inquisitive and driven who has:
- excellent communication skills and demonstrated experience in applying well developed analytical, evaluation and conceptual thinking skills to deliver advice
- the ability to undertake complex or sensitive work and who can operate with limited direction
- the initiative to resolve issues and manage competing priorities with a high degree of self-drive and autonomy, to deliver high quality work in accordance with timeframes
Due to the nature of the role, it is mandatory that the successful applicant would have previous experience in an accounting and finance role as well as a relevant qualification(s) in accounting, finance, commerce or equivalent.
The ideal applicant would also have:
- professional membership – CPA Australia / CA ANZ, or significant progress towards qualification, is desirable
