Are you passionate about making a lasting impact on the lives of exceptional young adults? The Helix School is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic instructors to join our team for the 2024-2025 school year. As we launch our Adult Education program, you’ll have the opportunity to provide individualized instruction and support to young adults and get in on the ground floor of this much needed and exciting new offering at the Helix School. If you are interested in assisting young adults to develop vocationally, intellectually, socially, and creatively, we want to hear from you!
About the Role:
As an Adult Education Coach at The Helix School, you will play a pivotal role in creating an engaging, supportive, and individualized program for young adults. This position offers a unique opportunity to apply your creativity, adaptability, and commitment to help our adult students continue to learn and grow in their interests and abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Discovery:
- Use person-centered approaches to discover the interests, hopes and dreams of the students you work with.
- Develop and apply creative strategies to support students’ access to their interests, with an eye toward maximizing student independence.
- Individualized Instruction:
- Create and implement daily activities to further the students’ identified interests and goals.
- Use evidence-based practices to provide differentiated instruction and support students in reaching their highest potential.
- Social Skills Development:
- Facilitate social skills development through structured activities, group projects, and community engagement.
- Foster a sense of belonging and empower students to build meaningful relationships and navigate social interactions with confidence.
- Be a Community Ambassador:
- Identify and initiate community engagement and opportunities in alignment with student interests and goals.
- Foster meaningful relationships between students and community partners, enhancing students’ feeling of belonging and purpose.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Proven experience working with neurodivergent students, particularly those with autism.
- An interest in learning about and using evidence-based practices.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, community partners, students, and families.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for making a positive impact on the lives of neurodivergent students.
