About the Role

The Allied Health Assistant (AHA) is a trusted partner and important member of the health care team, supporting a variety of Allied Health services in delivering person and whānau-centred care within an interdisciplinary framework across a range of settings, including but not limited to hospital, ambulatory, community and rural settings.

This role will, under delegation, complete tasks and activities to support and assist the health care team while working directly with people and whānau to provide direct and indirect care.

The role also provides operational support to Allied Health teams for the effective management, flow, and turnaround of loan equipment, working collaboratively across Equipment Services and Allied Health with primary responsibility to Equipment Services.

About the Service & Location

Equipment Services is based in central Whangarei, coordinating the delivery of mobility equipment to patients in both the Hospital and Community. We assist Occupational and Physiotherapists in providing equipment that supports patients' recovery and mobility. This role offers the chance to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where initiative is key. With plenty of opportunities for improvement, its ideal for someone who thrives on challenges, brings energy, and is driven to make a difference.

About you

Were looking for a motivated, flexible, and diligent individual who takes initiative and thrives in a fast-paced environment. A strong work ethic and proactive mindset are essential.

  • Year 11 NCEA level 1 English and Mathematics or equivalent
  • Current and full drivers licence
  • Good literacy, numeracy and basic computer skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Physically able to complete manual handling tasks
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of patients with disabilities

Whilst not essential, candidates that have previous Assistant experience and/or experience working with people of all age groups in a health care setting are desired.
