Assistant Manager

We are recruiting an enthusiastic and experienced Assistant Manager to support the day-to-day running of our busy retail space and help lead our talented front-of-house team of 10+ employees. Our shop in the Westbury Mall, Dublin 2, is where it all happens! It is a busy retail environment, where customers can browse and purchase our handcrafted collections, or sit down with us for a consultation to discuss a bespoke jewellery commission or remodelling their old jewellery.

Role

As Assistant Manager, you will work closely with the Store Manager and leadership team to ensure smooth daily operations, deliver outstanding customer service, and foster a positive and motivated team environment.

Excellent customer service is the foundation of Stonechat Jewellers and your role will ensure that our store and team provide a wonderful retail experience for our customers, whether they are choosing a small pair of earrings or commissioning a diamond ring. This role demands a strong retail floor presence, managing our team in the store and influencing the sales space, so enjoying the retail environment is vital.

Responsibilities

Team leadership

Work with our Store Manager to:

  • Support and guide a team of 10+ employees, ensuring strong communication, clear delegation, and motivation.
  • Assist with training and development, offering day-to-day support and regular feedback.
  • Foster a collaborative and customer-focused culture across the store.
  • Manage workflow and ensure team members fully comprehend responsibilities of delegated tasks, leading to exceptional customer service and meeting of sales targets.
  • Help oversee recruitment and onboarding of new team members.

Customer Experience & Sales

  • Demonstrate excellent sales ability through detailed product knowledge and the highest level of customer service.
  • Drive sales growth by implementing effective sales strategies, analysing performance metrics, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Oversee bespoke and remodelling consultations, ensuring the correct team member is assigned to each consultation, providing customer quotations for each special order and driving sales in this area.

Operations & Store Presentation

  • Assist in scheduling rotas, managing workflows, and maintaining the store atmosphere.
  • Ensure emails, phone enquiries, and customer requests are handled promptly.
  • Organise the dispatch of our online orders, ensuring on-brand presentation and timely shipping.
  • Monitor and manage stock levels in coordination with our workshop and suppliers.
  • Maintain strong visual merchandising standards throughout the store.

Marketing & Strategy

  • Provide valuable shop floor insight to the marketing team and business owner.
  • Support the development of marketing campaigns and promotional activity.
  • Work with the management team on broader strategic planning and business development initiatives.

About You

We’re looking for someone who brings energy, leadership, and a genuine love of retail.

You will have:

  • A love of customer interaction and the ability to lead by example
  • Strong business acumen with a commercial outlook
  • High levels of commitment, enthusiasm and energy with a drive to achieve results
  • An interest in jewellery and contemporary design
  • An outgoing personality and be a great team player
  • An eye for detail and an extremely thorough approach
  • Great organisational skills, a calm manner and a gift for multitasking
  • Strong IT skills including the ability to touch type and extensive working knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook
  • The ability to show sensitivity and compassion as jewellery can be a very emotional purchase

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a high-end retail management or assistant management role
  • Experience in managing a team of employees
  • Jewellery retail experience and/or experience in bespoke consultations is a distinct advantage
  • Flexibility in working hours and availability to work on Saturdays is a must (Sunday work is also required in the 2 month period before Christmas)
  • Fluent written and spoken English
