M.J. Bale is seeking a driven and commercially astute Assistant Store Business Manager to support the leadership of our Martin Place store — a key flagship location within our network.

The Opportunity

Working closely with the Store Business Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving sales performance, developing team capability and delivering an exceptional, tailored customer experience.

Drive Commercial Performance

Support delivery of sales targets, KPIs and store profitability

Analyse performance metrics and identify growth opportunities

Drive average transaction value (ATV), units per transaction (UPT) and database growth

Build and maintain strong VIP and corporate client relationships

Lead clienteling and appointment-based selling initiatives

Lead & Develop a High-Performing Team

Lead from the front on the shop floor, demonstrating premium selling standards

Coach and mentor team members to exceed performance expectations

Support recruitment, onboarding and ongoing development

Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration and energy

Act as a role model of M.J. Bale’s values and leadership behaviours

Deliver Premium Customer Experience

Provide personalised styling and tailored service experiences

Strengthen long-term client relationships

Drive Custom and made-to-measure opportunities

Ensure the store consistently reflects the M.J. Bale brand standard

Operational Excellence

Support roster management and wage control

Maintain exceptional VM and presentation standards

Ensure compliance with policies and operational processes

Assist in stock management and inventory accuracy

Skills and Experiences:
About You

Proven experience in an Assistant Manager or senior retail leadership role

Strong commercial mindset with a track record of driving KPIs

Passion for menswear, tailoring and premium service

Confident coach and communicator

Highly organised with strong attention to detail

Energetic, proactive and solutions-focused

Thrives in a fast-paced CBD retail environment
