The Forms and Publications Section is looking for someone who loves to fix noun and verb agreements, edit text to the active tense, and fix dangling participles. We are looking for a Grammar Guru! We are searching for a writer who can take the most challenging and complex tax information, analyze it, and turn it into something understandable, while keeping the text precise and accurate at the same time. The Associate Governmental Program Analyst (AGPA) will work on forms, instructions, letters, publications, eblasts, special notices, etc.
Details are crucial in our line of work. We track and record everything we do and the reasons we do it. In addition, we process multiple projects simultaneously in our section. The most qualified candidate will be able to work independently and know how to juggle! This job is challenging and demanding but can also be very fulfilling. Under Government Code 14200, this position may be eligible for partial telework for eligible candidates residing in California. All telework/hybrid schedules require staff to report to the office a minimum number of days per week. Schedules are subject to change.
Currently, per the California Budget Act of 2025, all California Department of Tax and Fee Administration salaries are subject to the provisions of the State of California’s Personal Leave Program.

Working Conditions

Desirable Qualifications
- We are looking for a candidate with exceptionally strong writing skills who have an expert level working knowledge of grammar, punctuation, and plain language rules. A degree in English or related study is preferred. The most qualified candidate will be able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects at the same time. Deductive reasoning and analytical skills are a must.
