***(This role is for a remote contractor based in the Philippines).
XTRM is a global fintech payments company.
We’ve built a next-generation platform and embedded payment API designed around an intelligent wallet architecture that allows businesses of all kinds to receive, manage, exchange, and send money worldwide. XTRM operates using a fully distributed team spanning many countries. We are a high-growth company with over 25,000 global customers.
The Associate Product Manager (APM) plays a key role in supporting XTRM’s product development and delivery efforts across our platform. Reporting to a Senior Product Manager, the APM helps define requirements, coordinates execution, and ensures the smooth delivery of new features and enhancements.
This role is ideal for someone early in their product career who is detail-oriented, organized, and technically fluent. You’ll collaborate closely with Engineering, Design, Compliance, Support, and other internal stakeholders to ensure that product specifications are clear, thoroughly tested, and delivered with high quality. This is a cross-functional role that touches many areas of the business, especially in a regulated fintech/payments environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.
- Conduct discovery activities such as reviewing tickets, interviewing users/stakeholders, and benchmarking competitors.
- Draft and maintain Product Requirement Documents (PRDs), Functional Requirement Documents (FRDs), and detailed acceptance criteria.
- Translate product ideas into actionable specs, including edge cases, error handling, compliance/audit needs, and dependencies.
- Keep product backlogs organized and “ready” for development — including test data, environments, and dependencies.
- Coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT), create test cases, log bugs with detailed reproduction steps, and track defects to resolution.
- Support release readiness by preparing checklists covering feature flags, logging, monitoring, permissions, and runbooks.
- Define lightweight success metrics for product features and validate outcomes post-release.
- Maintain internal product documentation, known issues lists, and changelogs.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Compliance, Support, and Finance to ensure alignment on product changes and timelines.
- Support incident triage and post-incident documentation when needed.
- Use basic technical tools (e.g., Postman, Swagger, SQL) to validate API responses, data behaviors, and troubleshoot issues.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- 1–4 years of experience in Product Management, Product Operations, Business Analyst, QA/UAT, or Technical Writing.
- Proven ability to write clear specs and testable acceptance criteria.
- Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps or Jira, backlog hygiene, and release workflows.
- Strong understanding of REST APIs/JSON, and web app concepts (environments, permissions, flags).
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), with strong attention to detail.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Experience in fintech, payments, or wallet-based platforms.
- Understanding of KYC/AML requirements and audit logging processes.
- Ability to read OpenAPI/Swagger specs and use tools like Postman or Insomnia for testing.
- Basic knowledge of SQL and comfort reviewing system logs or dashboards (e.g., Splunk).
- Experience working with Figma for reviewing product designs.
