Associate Project Manager, Business Intelligence

Role Purpose

The Associate Project Manager, Business Intelligence is responsible for driving the successful execution of initiatives within the BI CoE organization by managing project planning, coordination, and communication activities. This role supports Program Increment (PI) Planning and leverages the formal GIAD intake process to define project scopes, establish timelines, and track deliverables from initiation through completion. The Associate Project Manager ensures alignment with strategic priorities and business goals when working across cross-functional teams, including data, dashboard, and analytics stakeholders. This position is key in facilitating stakeholder communication, leading project meetings, and providing clear accountability for action items and milestones. The role also partners with project leads to manage tasks, optimize resource allocation, and monitor project progress. A critical function of this position is to proactively identify and resolve issues, escalate risks as needed, and foster a problem-solving mindset that ensures momentum and delivery continuity across projects.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and manage project plans, timelines, and deliverables by supporting PI (Program Increment) Planning sessions and leveraging the formal GIAD intake process. Ensure project scopes are well-defined, milestones are clearly outlined, and deliverables are tracked from initiation to completion.
  • Coordinate cross-functional project activities across GIAD data teams, dashboard developers, and analytics stakeholders to ensure workstreams are aligned with overarching business objectives, timelines, and strategic priorities.
  • Facilitate communication across diverse stakeholder groups, including project sponsors, CoE leads, IT teams, and external partners. Establish regular check-in cadences to ensure all parties remain informed, engaged, and aligned on expectations and outcomes.
  • Lead and organize critical project meetings, including stand-ups, status updates, and working sessions. Document decisions, assign clear action items, and follow up to ensure accountability and progress toward key project milestones.
  • Partner with project leads to assign tasks and manage team workflows, ensuring appropriate resource use while balancing capacity across multiple priorities. Leverage project management tools to monitor progress, flag dependencies, and maintain visibility across initiatives.
  • Anticipate and remove operational or strategic roadblocks, promptly escalating key issues or risks to leadership. Promote a proactive problem-solving culture to minimize delays and ensure continuity in project execution.

Key Skills & Experiences

Education –

Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a relevant field or equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.

Experience –

  • 6-8 years progressive work-related experience with demonstrated proficiency in multiple disciplines/processes related to the position, including 2+ years coordinating and managing IT or BI projects
  • Demonstrated experience in organizing, planning, and executing small to mid-scale projects through the full project lifecycle, with strong knowledge of project management, process development, and quality management.
  • Familiarity with Agile project management methodologies, including iterative delivery, sprint planning, and stakeholder reviews, is preferred.
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills to provide and explain project information and status to internal teams, key stakeholders, and Senior Management.
  • Experience working in a Business Intelligence (BI) Center of Excellence (CoE) or a global enterprise environment, with an understanding of scalable reporting practices, cross-regional collaboration, and solution standardization.
