We’re seeking a skilled Automation Technician to join our innovative team at Mount Pack & Cool (Mpac). This role plays a vital part in ensuring all automated and mechanical systems operate efficiently to support high-performing post-harvest operations across both our sites (Mount & Tauriko).
As part of a hands-on and future-focused team, you'll be involved in maintaining, improving, and troubleshooting automation systems that support our state-of-the-art packhouse.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor, maintain, and improve automated packing systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and automation-related breakdowns and repairs across all packhouse equipment.
- Maintain equipment from bin dump through to box-making, including robotics and conveyor automation.
- Support the planning and delivery of preventative maintenance programmes.
- Contribute to engineering improvement projects that drive efficiency and innovation.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and external contractors.
- Promote and adhere to all workplace health and safety requirements.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Proven mechanical/automation experience in a similar production, FMCG, or industrial environment.
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills with a hands-on, practical mindset.
- Understanding of automated packhouse systems with basic PLC logic knowledge
- High level of initiative, adaptability, and resilience in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office).

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $32.00 – $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 30 per week
