About Clear Start

Clear Start is Dermalogica’s acne-focused sub-brand designed to appeal to Gen Z and help treat breakout-prone skin. Founded by Jane Wurwand, it was created to offer a range of products that intercept acne before symptoms escalate, while teaching young adults healthy skin care habits. Our brand platform is Fear No Breakout, because with Clear Start’s products, education and tools you’ll never fear a breakout again.

To accelerate growth, Clear Start operates as a separate team, autonomously from Dermalogica. It’s a nimble, high-performing team that moves fast to create, test, and iterate. We’re now looking for a Brand Designer who can bring both creative leadership and executional excellence to our growing brand.

About the Role

As Brand Designer, you will be both a visionary and a doer—leading creative direction and executing across all brand touchpoints. You’ll own and evolve the Clear Start visual identity, shape creative strategy for campaigns, packaging, and content, and set a bold visual direction that resonates with our Gen Z audience.

This role requires someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can confidently lead creative production (from photoshoots to packaging), and is equally comfortable rolling up their sleeves to design and deliver beautiful, impactful assets.

What You Will Do

Creative Leadership & Direction

  • Lead creative concepting and execution across 360° brand campaigns (digital, social, packaging, retail, experiential).
  • Develop visual strategies, moodboards, and creative direction for campaigns and launches.
  • Lead on-set creative direction for photo and video shoots, ensuring brand vision is consistently brought to life.
  • Evolve and grow the Clear Start brand identity across all channels.

Design & Execution

  • Design a wide range of visual content—digital, print, and packaging—while maintaining a cohesive brand aesthetic.
  • Produce high-quality design assets for social, web, email, in-store, paid media, and influencer marketing.
  • Create and deliver packaging designs from concept to final artwork, including die-lines, mockups, and print-ready files.
  • Translate campaign concepts into tangible creative deliverables with speed and precision.

Collaboration & Influence

  • Partner closely with the Clear Start Brand team, Ecomm, and Global teams to ensure creative alignment and amplify storytelling.
  • Collaborate with external creative partners (e.g., agencies, photographers, freelancers) to deliver best-in-class assets.
  • Provide guidance and feedback to freelancers to maintain high-quality creative output.

Innovation & Trendspotting

  • Stay on the pulse of beauty, cultural, and digital trends to keep Clear Start’s creative fresh and relevant.
  • Explore emerging creative tools (e.g., AI image/video generation, motion, 3D) to bring new ideas to life.

What You Will Bring

  • 5+ years of experience in graphic/creative design, ideally in beauty, fashion, or consumer brands.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating concept-to-execution work across packaging, campaigns, and content.
  • Expert-level Adobe Creative Suite skills (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign; After Effects or Premiere a plus).
  • Proven ability to lead creative direction for photoshoots and campaign production.
  • Solid understanding of print production, packaging design, and digital-first creative.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, with the ability to articulate creative vision clearly.
  • A hands-on, collaborative mindset — equally strategic and executional.
  • Proficiency in leveraging AI tools for creative ideation and asset generation, including image and video applications.
  • Strong awareness of digital trends and how they can be translated into relevant, future-forward creative.

Bonus Skills

  • Experience with motion graphics and/or video editing.
  • 3D rendering or experiential design knowledge.

The position is based at the corporate headquarters in Carson, CA, with hybrid on-site work guidelines. The expected salary range for this role is $75K - $80K per year. This role is eligible for participation in our company bonus plan, rewarding personal performance and company results.
