Business Development Manager (Onsite)
Job description
We are building a European growth platform for Onsite Plants-as-a-Service. We invest in and own onsite assets installed at customer sites and deliver long-term service contracts that bundle product supply with full Operations & Maintenance (O&M), performance guarantees and SLAs.
The Business Development Manager (BDM) will be responsible for developing new opportunities, shaping technically and financially bankable proposals, negotiating terms, and closing long-term service agreements end-to-end, in close collaboration with the regional organization and the internal cross-functional teams (Engineering, Projects, Operations, Finance, Legal, HSE).
Key Responsibilities:
New business development & territory plan.
Prospect and develop a pipeline of new opportunities across industrial and renewable gas markets.
Perform customer discovery, site visits and data gathering to translate customer needs into technical and commercial requirements.
Solution shaping, business case and offer development.
Lead the cross-functional team to define a winning solution (technology selection, performance envelope, site interfaces, utilities, permitting assumptions).
Develop ‘asset-based’ business cases, define commercial constructs and coordinate tender/RFP responses and internal governance.
Contract negotiation & closing (end-to-end)
Negotiate long-term service agreements including SLA/KPIs, take-or-pay/minimums, escalation clauses and risk allocation.
Own the negotiation strategy and lead negotiations to signature with C-level, procurement, operations and legal counterparts.
Handover to project execution & operations
–Coordinate partners (EPCs, developers, utilities, off-takers) and manage customer stakeholders from operations to C-level.
–Ensure structured handover to execution and operations to protect value and customer satisfaction.
Job requirements
Background:
–At least 5 years’ experience in B2B business development and solution sales for industrial plants, utilities, industrial gases, renewable gas, CO₂ or similar capital-intensive solutions.
–Proven track record of closing complex, multi-year contracts.
–Background in industrial gas majors and/or renewable gas specialists (e.g., industrial gas suppliers, biomethane upgrading players) would be a plus.
–Strong negotiation skills and solid understanding of commercial/contractual structures (SLA, indexation, risk allocation, penalties/bonuses).
–Proven experience building and defending investment cases (NPV/IRR, sensitivity analysis).
–Willingness to travel to industrial sites; strong safety mindset and compliance orientation
Required Skills:
–Fluent English (written and spoken). Additional local language proficiency aligned with the territory is strongly preferred.
–Agile, Hands on, Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire others.
–Advanced negotiation and stakeholder management across multiple levels.
–Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
–Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels. Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively with regional sales teams and internal functions.
–Proactivity and continuous improvement mindset.
Others:
–Availability to travel 20% of time to industrial sites.
