Cargo Van Delivery Driver

Van Delivery Driver:

Position Type: Full-Time

Pay Range: $21.00+ DOE (DOT Straight Pay)

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 10AM-6PM

Qualifications: Minimum 1-Year Sprinter Van or Step Van Experience Required

Our Van Drivers report to the Operations Manager and support the operations department in the performance of daily activities which include pick-ups, deliveries and recoveries of freight in a time-sensitive and professional manner.

Our Van Drivers maintain accurate, up-to-date records such as Vehicle Inspection Reports, daily manifests, and incident reports. Our Van Drivers are responsible for loading and unloading freight and for reporting accurate dimensions and weight of freight.

California Sierra Express has been in business for over 35 years. We operate five terminals in CA and one in Reno. We're an overnight carrier that primarily serves international and domestic freight forwarders as a final mile Pick-Up and Delivery agent for shipments that travel from all over the globe by air, sea and land.

You'll be joining a local team of over 60 people all committed to providing the best service possible to our customers who trust Cal Sierra to move their shipments on-time and without damage all throughout the greater Bay Area.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Consistent attendance Mon - Fri is mandatory. Additional weekend work is available, if desired.
  • Complete assigned route in a timely manner. Route size can vary day to day (15-20 stops)and may require 9-10 hours to complete.
  • Practice defensive driving principles and follow all company safety policies.
  • Comply with all laws and regulations relating to driving, transporting and handling of freight including those issued by but limited to The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Department of Transportation (DOT).
  • Comply with truck and cargo security requirements as outlined by the Transportation Safety Administration (TSA).
  • Comply with safe work practices as required by the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA)
  • Comply with federal drug and alcohol regulations.
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid Class C Drivers License.
  • Must be at least 23 years of age.
  • Minimum of one (1) year driving experience.
  • Clean DMV record (no serious moving violations in the past 5 years)
  • Valid DOT Medical Card or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal traffic laws and regulations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English; verbally and in writing.
