Cashier/Customer Service

Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and friendly Cashier to join our team in a fast-paced grocery store environment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service while efficiently processing transactions. This role requires strong communication skills and the ability to handle cash accurately while maintaining a positive shopping experience for our customers.

Responsibilities

• Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system to process customer transactions accurately and efficiently.
• Handle cash, credit, and debit transactions with precision, ensuring all payments are processed correctly.
• Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and assisting them with product inquiries.
• Upsell products and promote special offers to enhance the shopping experience and increase sales.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization at the checkout area, ensuring a welcoming environment for customers.
• Assist in stocking shelves and merchandising products to ensure optimal presentation and availability.
• Conduct product demonstrations as needed to engage customers and promote new items.
• Supervise junior staff members when required, providing guidance on best practices in customer service and cashiering duties.

Skills

• Proficient in operating POS systems with a solid understanding of cashiering procedures.
• Previous experience in retail sales or grocery store environments is preferred.
• Strong cash handling skills with basic math proficiency for accurate transaction processing.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with customers and team members.
• Bilingual abilities are a plus, enhancing communication with diverse customer bases.
• Knowledge of retail math concepts for inventory management and sales tracking.
• Ability to upsell products effectively while maintaining a friendly demeanor.
• Experience in stocking, merchandising, and maintaining product displays is advantageous.
