Job Title: Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) – Orthodontics
Location: 1874 W 1st Ave #1, Vancouver, BC V6J 5B8

Founded by Dr. Jeffrey Norden in the early 2000s, our clinic has always been dedicated to exceptional oral care. With over 40 years of expertise, Dr. Norden specializes in cosmetic dentistry. In 2023, Dr. Norden transitioned into semi-retirement, focusing exclusively on cosmetic procedures, and serving the Vancouver Canucks family. Dr. David Cheng now leads daily operations, bringing 35 years of dental experience and a holistic approach to patient care. Together, Dr. Norden and Dr. Cheng bring over 75 years of combined experience and have trained with some of the world’s top dental professionals, solidifying their leadership in the field.
We are seeking a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) with a passion for orthodontics, teeth whitening, and treatment coordinating to join our dynamic dental practice. In this role, you will not only assist in orthodontic procedures and teeth whitening treatments but also play a crucial role in coordinating patient treatment plans and ensuring a smooth and efficient patient experience. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a proactive approach to patient care, and a commitment to working in a collaborative team environment.
Key Job Duties (and Not Limited To):
Orthodontics:
- Assist the orthodontist during various procedures, including placing and adjusting braces, clear aligners, and other orthodontic appliances.
- Take and process orthodontic X-rays.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices specific to orthodontics.
- Maintain and update patient records, ensuring accurate documentation of orthodontic treatments and progress.
- Assist in the fitting, adjustment, and removal of retainers and other orthodontic appliances.
General Duties:
- Provide chairside assistance to the dentist during a variety of dental and orthodontic procedures.
- Follow enhanced infection control and sterilization protocols to maintain a safe and sterile environment.
- Use dental practice management software to accurately document and update patient records.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient concerns and ensuring a positive experience.
- Manage patient appointments, ensuring smooth patient flow throughout the day.
- Comfortable working in a team environment and collaborating with other dental professionals.
- Assist with teeth whitening procedures, including preparation of the treatment area, application of whitening agents, and monitoring patient comfort throughout the process.
- Prepare and sterilize instruments, materials, and equipment for treatments.
- Uphold strict confidentiality regarding patient information in compliance.
- Follow office protocols for cleanliness, safety, and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications:
- Certification: Must have completed a Certified Dental Assisting Level II program and be registered or in the process of registering with the BC College of Oral Health Professionals.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience as a CDA, preferably with experience in orthodontics, teeth whitening, and treatment coordination
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of orthodontic procedures and equipment.
- Experience with digital X-rays
- Experience in treatment coordinating, including scheduling, explaining treatment plans, and working with patients to schedule and prioritize care.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with patients, especially regarding orthodontic treatments and cosmetic procedures.
