Communications Intern Posting closing: July 26, 2024 The Universal Music Canada team works four days a week from our creative campus located in Liberty Village, Toronto and one day virtually. Universal Music Canada is proud to offer students the opportunity to gain hands on experience in the music industry through our Academic Internship Program. Today’s students may be tomorrow’s employees and this placement will provide interns with the chance to learn directly from the best professionals in the industry. Responsibilities
- Assist with media relations, and special projects like digital newsletter development and creative brainstorming
- Publicity and promo support, including shadowing and learning how to build media interview schedule and manage artist promo/interviews virtually or in person
- Discover and track social media trends, sharing insights with the team
- Compile campaign reports using CreatorCore for organic and paid sound campaigns
- Prepare artist press coverage reports and digital press kits, and building a general understanding of how to report campaign results, managing relationships with artist teams, media members and internal stakeholders.
- Identify and add new creators to the CreatorCore database, updating profiles with necessary information
- Use MelodyIQ to track sound campaigns and integrate relevant posts into reports
- Highlight new trends for artists in the CreatorStrategy Slack channel
- Assist in measuring and analyzing campaign performance, noting engagement metrics and gaps
- Take notes in team meetings and participate in artist brainstorms, sharing relevant ideas
- Support the Creator Strategy team during artist content days and other in-person opportunities
- Build a broad understanding of communications coordination, media monitoring, and press release editing
- Passion for music
- Must be enrolled in a post-secondary program that requires a placement
- A thorough understanding of media and public relations
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
- Overall computer savvy
- Strong written and oral interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
