The Communications Specialist (Temporary) will craft compelling content that aligns with our brand voice and values while engaging target audiences. This role involves writing original copy for marketing and PR initiatives, developing impactful stories through research and interviews, and collaborating with PR consultants to execute strategic communication plans. Work closely with the marketing team and Executive Directors to shape messaging, manage online reputation through review responses, and ensure brand consistency across all platforms.
- This is a temporary, 3-month position.
- Write original, engaging copy for a variety of marketing and PR initiatives, ensuring messaging aligns with brand voice, the company’s values and resonates with target audiences. This position requires you to:
- Collaborate in brainstorming sessions to generate innovative ideas and content strategies
- Conduct thorough research and interviews with residents, team members, and other stakeholders to create impactful stories that elevate the company’s reputation and connect with target audiences.
- Write original copy that represents the brand’s voice.
- Modify and edit copy on existing materials.
- Develop copy that fulfills marketing strategies.
- Assist in proofreading copy for content, style, and grammatical accuracy. Assist in proofreading for other departments as needed.
- Work with local PR representatives to develop PR plans for the central office marketing team and community Executive Directors. This includes crafting messaging, selecting media outlets, and creating positioning statements as part of an integrated marketing and PR strategy. Ensure alignment with key company messages while tailoring communications to the local community.
- Provide strategic support to the company by identifying and pursuing meaningful media opportunities for the Touchmark brand. This includes researching and pitching relevant awards and media outlets to enhance brand awareness and credibility.
- Participate in ongoing and regular meetings with community management teams and central office executive team to provide regular updates on earned and paid media efforts in each market, and across the company.
- Monitor and respond to online reviews across all entities. Represent the company’s voice in a professional and authentic manner, ensuring responses align with brand values and build trust within the online community.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to the Communications Editor, ensuring all content strategies are executed effectively.
- Work with the Director of Marketing, to leverage, build and expand relationships with journalists, television personalities, social media and industry influencers.
- Maintain confidentiality when sensitive issues arise.
- Provide excellent customer service and ensure all deadlines are met.
- Model the Touchmark Values in decision-making and interactions with team members, residents, and guests.
- Works with the department and adheres to the Touchmark Gold Standards.
- Ability to be present and available during regular business hours to support internal customers;
- Ability to read and write English in order to follow and give oral and written instructions;
- Must be able to complete required paperwork with a high degree of accuracy;
- Physically capable of turning, stooping, bending, stretching, moving equipment, and performing other related tasks;
- Must be able to cover the expanse of the office as necessary;
- Collaborate with leadership to identify and implement service improvements.
- Regular, predictable, and reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Perform all other duties as assigned
- B.S. or B.A. in Journalism, Communications, or English, or equivalent education and experience
- 5+ years of writing for marketing and PR communications.
- Knowledgeable and proficient with Microsoft products, including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
- Experience in creative strategy that includes creative, paid media, earned media, and brand management/consistency.
- Basic understanding of design process and print production.
- Knowledge and understanding of graphics and printing terminology.
- Excellent English language grammar, proofreading skills, writing conventions, and familiarity with AP style.
- Effective organizational skills; supreme attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to provide outstanding service to internal and external customers.
- Ability to manage and execute strategic projects, as identified by the Director of Marketing or Touchmark senior management. Present findings to senior-level executives as necessary.
- Excellent time-management skills, flexibility, and the ability to prioritize among multiple and/or competing tasks
- Ability to work independently and think critically.
- Willingness to accept supervision and direction from supervisory personnel.
- Ability to get along with co-workers, demonstrate integrity, and maintain a caring attitude.
