JOB DESCRIPTION
The Site Superintendent will be accountable for overseeing all field operations in multiple construction projects. This role will be the driving force in ensuring our project plans are successfully completed according to design, budget, and schedule.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES
Health and Safety
- Create and maintain a culture of "safety first," leading by example and holding our site teams and partners accountable.
- Work with the Project Manager and Site Safety Manager to ensure the implementation of Harbour Hills' safety program and adherence to all safety requirements.
- Partner with Site Coordinators to ensure all on-site safety standards are met.
Site Management
- Oversee, direct, coach, train, and mentor both direct and indirect reports on the project team.
- Communicate effectively with site teams and subcontractors to ensure that performance, productivity, quality, and safety requirements are met.
- Collaborate with the project team to find solutions to potential problems, identify risks, and address work interferences and schedule conflicts.
- Work in partnership with clients and other site contractors to ensure all parties are aligned with project requirements.
- Design and implement recovery plans as needed.
- Assist in creating, maintaining, and executing the project plan and schedule to ensure compliance with budget and quality standards.
- Review and understand contracts and subcontracts.
- Develop and maintain strong, customer-focused relationships with all stakeholders.
- Contribute to company initiatives.
- Perform other duties as required.
As the Site Superintendent, you will play a key role in modeling and recognizing our core values.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Postsecondary diploma or degree in a related field, such as:
- Architecture
- Construction
- Building Science
- Engineering
- Management (post-secondary in Management is an asset but not required)
Skills
- Successfully supervised a construction workforce.
- In-depth knowledge and experience in the construction industry and company operations, including building materials, construction specifications, methods, and procedures.
- Ability to coordinate multiple scopes of a construction project.
- Understanding of contract language.
- In-depth knowledge of and application of safety and environmental principles, procedures, and legislation.
- Ability to lead and run effective site meetings with clients, consultants, internal employees, and subcontractors.
- Demonstrated conflict resolution skills, problem-solving abilities, and professional judgment.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
- Knowledge of virtual construction software and tools.
- Knowledge of construction drawings and specifications.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
