Job Summary – High-Rise Site Superintendent

We are seeking an experienced and highly organized High-Rise Site Superintendent to oversee the day-to-day on-site construction operations of our residential and mixed-use high-rise developments in Toronto. The Site Superintendent will be responsible for ensuring construction activities are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with all drawings, specifications, and regulatory requirements.

This role is critical in maintaining construction quality, coordinating trades, and serving as the primary on-site representative of Unix Housing.

Key ResponsibilitiesSite Management & Construction Oversight

  • Manage all on-site construction activities for high-rise projects from start to completion.
  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, trades, and suppliers to ensure efficient workflow.
  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and schedules.
  • Monitor daily site progress and resolve construction issues as they arise.

Schedule & Productivity Control

  • Develop and maintain short-term and long-term construction schedules.
  • Coordinate sequencing of trades to minimize delays and site conflicts.
  • Identify potential schedule risks and proactively implement corrective actions.

Quality Control & Inspections

  • Enforce quality standards and ensure workmanship meets project specifications.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and deficiency reviews.
  • Coordinate and participate in consultant, municipal, and authority inspections.
  • Ensure deficiencies are tracked and rectified in a timely manner.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce site safety policies in compliance with OHSA and company standards.
  • Conduct toolbox talks, safety meetings, and site orientations.
  • Ensure all workers comply with safety regulations and use appropriate PPE.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site at all times.

Coordination & Communication

  • Act as the primary on-site liaison between project managers, consultants, inspectors, and trades.
  • Communicate daily progress updates, issues, and manpower requirements to the project team.
  • Attend construction meetings and provide site input on logistics and sequencing.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain daily site logs, progress photos, and manpower records.
  • Review shop drawings and coordinate installations with consultants.
  • Assist in turnover documentation, occupancy readiness, and deficiency close-out.

QualificationsEducation

  • Diploma or degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred).

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Site Superintendent, with high-rise residential or mixed-use construction experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of concrete, structural, envelope, MEP, and interior high-rise construction.
  • Experience working with union and non-union trades is an asset.

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of Ontario Building Code and local construction regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency with site reporting tools and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
