POSITION PURPOSE

Reporting to Program Manager and under the guidance and direction of senior staff, is responsible for providing support to Community Health Services projects that involve applying scientific hypothesies and modeling complex data, advanced analytic skills, communicating results, documentation and customer service.


RATE OF PAY: $19.66 to $28.63 per hour (dependent on year of study)

LOCATION: 17150 Yonge Street, Newmarket, Ontario L3Y 8V3, Canada (hybrid - every 2-week period in-office 50%)

DURATION OF WORK TERM: 4 months

  • Start Date: September 3rd, 2024
  • End Date: December 20th, 2024

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Researches best practices and emerging science related to data mining, machine learning, big data and advances in methodology and applied analytics.
  • Assists in the development of models using standard and advanced statistical techniques.
  • Assists in the development of predictive analytics.
  • Assists with applied analytics initiatives to determine insights required to make key operational, tactical and strategic business decisions.
  • Responds to inquiries and resolves concerns as appropriate.
  • Assists in the documentation of business processes and the collection/completion of metadata for various products.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled on a full-time basis in a post-secondary program in Mathematics, Applied Statistics, Computer or Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related program.
  • Knowledge of statistical packages such as R, Python, MATLAB, SPSS, SAS.
  • Knowledge of scientific hypothesis, statistical analysis, quantitative analytics, forecasting/predictive analytics, and multivariate testing and optimization algorithms.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including communication, innovation, teamwork and collaboration, and personal ownership.
  • Computer literacy utilizing MS Office software applications.
  • Ability to organize daily workload, set priorities and meet required deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and work cooperatively with staff and as part of a team.
  • Ability to travel to offsite locations in a timely and efficient manner, as required.
  • Ability to work outside regular business hours, as required.
