About Aurora Energy
We’re one of New Zealand’s largest electricity networks, delivering safe, reliable, and sustainable electricity to over 200,000 residents across Ōtepoti Dunedin, Central Otago/Wānaka, and Tāhuna Queenstown. Our purpose? Enabling the energy future of our communities.
The Opportunity
Reliable and accurate asset, inspection, and maintenance data is essential for effective decision-making, investment, and sustainable asset management. To support this, Aurora is rolling out a new Asset Management System (IBM Maximo) along with updated frameworks to improve data quality and operational efficiency.
You will be instrumental in ensuring Aurora’s asset data is accurate, structured, and actionable. You will:
Analyse asset, inspection, and maintenance data to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvement
Apply best-practice approaches to asset data structures, data flows, and preventative maintenance planning
Configure and implement data structures in IBM Maximo, including job plans, service plans, and maintenance schedules aligned to engineering standards
Work with field service partners, GIS, and integration teams to ensure data flows correctly from project design through to field execution
Support data migration, transformation, and validation to improve quality, completeness, and consistency
Document data models, processes, and data capture points to support handover to BAU teams
Collaborate with engineers, lifecycle managers, and change leads to embed data best practices into everyday workflows
This role is about more than just data analysis, you will also interpret, and shape asset data to ensure that every decision is supported by clean, reliable, and actionable information.
About You
We’re looking for someone who:
Has experience with asset, inspection, or maintenance data in an asset-intensive environment
Can analyse datasets to identify trends, gaps, and data quality issues, and propose improvements
Is curious, independent, and able to design and implement processes that maintain clean, structured, and AI-ready data
Has excellent communication skills to work with engineers, field teams, and integration specialists
Highly desirable skills:
Experience with IBM Maximo or similar Asset Management Systems
SQL and data analysis skills to extract, validate, and manipulate large datasets
A Tertiary qualification in data engineering, or computer science
Ability to create repeatable, scalable processes that ensure accurate and complete data capture
Why This Role Is Unique
You will analyse and improve asset data while influencing how it is structured and managed across Aurora’s network
Your work will directly impact operational efficiency, network reliability, and regulatory compliance
You will help embed best practice in asset data management, ensuring data flows correctly throughout its lifecycle
Ideally these roles would be based within the Aurora Network Region in Dunedin, Central Otago, or Christchurch, however, we would consider remote, for the right level of seniority.
So, if you are a logical thinker, data-driven, and passionate about structured, high-integrity data, this is your chance to make a real impact. Apply now to be part of a transformative project at Aurora Energy.
