Data Analytics & Artificial Intelligence (AI) Intern– Fall 2024

The Opportunity

The Data Analytics & AI Intern will have develop strong technical and analytical skills, gain an understanding of the significance of data-driven decision-making, and become proficient at conveying insights to non-technical stakeholders. They will also gain an appreciation for agile teamwork dynamics and the importance of professional relationships. Exposure to global operations will offer insights into international business practices, and the intern will build a network of professional contacts to support their career growth.

We are looking to begin this internship with a September 2024 start date for 4 – 6 months. Intern is expected to work 40 hours per week in a hybrid environment in the New York City office. This is not a full-remote role.

Responsibilities:

• Work in and support cross-functional data product teams to evaluate the quality and fit of different internal and external data sets
• Use e.g. Python, SQL to link and transform data from different sources and Power BI build visualizations and dashboards
• Leverage the power of AI and LLMs to extract information from documents, excel sheets and other semi-structured sources

Qualifications:

• Preferred Major: Computer science, Math, Statistics
• Accepted Major: Risk Management and Insurance
• Grade Level: Master’s student
• Computer Skills: Python, SQL, Git, Power BI
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, math or a related degree
• Proficiency in technical data handling, e.g. writing SQL or Python scripts to manipulate data
• Integrative personality, strong in building and maintaining relationships (internally and externally)
• Drive and dedication, as well as creativity and hands-on attitude to initiate and execute use cases; “getting things done”
• Excellent ability to communicate to both technical and non-technical communities to ensure data uses and limitations are well understood and will provide substantive business value.

This role will be based in NYC. The base range for this internship will be $25 - $32 per hour. The hourly estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for candidates hired in this position in NYC. Factors that may be used to determine your actual rate will include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role.
