About the Role

The Database and Data Administrator is responsible for the efficient operation, integration, and availability of databases, data warehouse, data analytics and core systems that support teaching, learning, and school operations. The position plays a key role in shaping the school’s digital environment by implementing innovative, user-focused, data-driven solutions that enhance decision-making, streamline processes, and support continuous improvement. Leveraging modern data practices and integration strategies, the role also ensures a secure, high-performing, and sustainable digital infrastructure.

Working closely with the Database and Web Services Manager, the Database and Data Administrator assist in managing the Student Information System (currently Synergetic), Student Dashboards, and related applications for attendance, reporting and other operational functions.

This is a hands-on role with real influence — ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, improving systems, and seeing their work have tangible impact.

About You

You are a dedicated, solutions-focused professional who brings strong technical capability and a collaborative mindset. You will have::

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or a minimum of five years’ experience in database administration or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience upgrading, maintaining, and supporting SQL databases
  • Ability to monitor, tune, and optimise database performance to ensure efficient operation
  • Experience performing regular data backups, including scheduling, monitoring, and validation
  • Capability to design and maintain database tables, views, functions, and stored procedures aligned to business and user requirements
  • Strong understanding of data integrity and system interoperability across integrated platforms
  • Experience designing, developing, and maintaining SSRS reports and SSIS packages
  • Proven ability to diagnose and resolve database issues and errors
  • Well-developed problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to apply logical and innovative thinking to complex requirements
  • Experience administering SQL Server environments, Student Information Systems, and Crystal Reports
  • Sound experience in data warehousing concepts and practices
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Microsoft Fabric, and SharePoint
  • Working knowledge of APIs, Azure DevOps, and cloud-based database platforms such as Azure SQL
  • Excellent written, verbal, and listening communication skills
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with a high level of attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion

  • A current National Police Check; and
