Delivery Manager
  • Work anywhere in New Zealand
  • Permanent, Full-time
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is the country's largest employer, delivering universal public healthcare to 5 million New Zealanders.

We provide essential hospital, specialist, and community health services across 80+ locations — from large urban centres to rural towns and remote communities. Our goal is to improve health outcomes for all New Zealanders by delivering equitable, accessible and innovative care.

About the Role

As a Delivery Manager, you will play a pivotal role in executing technology projects that directly support Health New Zealand's operational priorities and improve digital capability across the country. You will lead and empower delivery teams, collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders to design, develop, and implement technology solutions that meet business needs, enhance service quality, and support critical applications nationwide. Operating within a complex technology environment, you will ensure projects are delivered on time, to standard, and in alignment with strategic goals. With a strong focus on delivery excellence, you will drive continuous improvement, model agile ways of working, and cultivate a culture that values innovation, partnership, and diverse perspectives.

About the Team

You will be joining a dedicated, collaborative, and forward-thinking digital delivery team at Health New Zealand, committed to enabling better health outcomes through technology. Our team brings together a diverse mix of specialists who work across complex systems to support critical services nationwide. We pride ourselves on working in an open, inclusive, and agile environment where ideas are valued, continuous improvement is encouraged, and everyone is supported to develop and grow. We partner closely with iwi, Māori, Pacific, clinical, and operational stakeholders to ensure our digital solutions reflect the needs and aspirations of the communities we serve. Together, we are shaping a modern, connected, and resilient digital landscape for Aotearoa.

About you

You are an experienced technology delivery professional who thrives in complex environments and enjoys leading teams to achieve impactful outcomes. With a strong grasp of modern delivery practices and a commitment to continuous improvement, you bring both technical understanding and exceptional people skills to your work. You build strong relationships, communicate with clarity, and navigate ambiguity with confidence. You are driven, adaptable, and committed to upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles in the way you lead and deliver.

  • 5+ years' experience managing technology projects or programmes, with a proven record of delivering successfully in complex IT environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) and experience guiding cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, alongside a solid understanding of IT infrastructure, architecture, and service management frameworks.
  • Relevant qualifications, including a Bachelor's degree in a technology-related field and certifications such as ITIL, Agile (Scrum Master/Product Owner), and ideally PMP.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship-management skills, with the ability to influence, resolve challenges, and work collaboratively across diverse groups.
