Responsibilities

  • Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly
  • Assist dentists during various procedures such as restorations, extractions, root canals, and prosthodontic treatments with precision and professionalism
  • Take and develop dental X-rays and medical imaging to assist in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning
  • Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft while maintaining HIPAA compliance for confidentiality
  • Provide chairside assistance by handing instruments, suctioning, and ensuring patient comfort throughout procedures
  • Educate patients on post-treatment care, dental terminology, and oral hygiene practices to promote ongoing health
  • Support infection control protocols through aseptic technique and proper sterilization procedures in accordance with OSHA standards

Requirements

  • Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with familiarity in general dentistry procedures
  • Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; experience with Epic or similar platforms is a plus
  • Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical terminology, and medical coding practices
  • Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely following radiation safety guidelines
  • Strong understanding of infection control practices including aseptic technique and sterilization processes
  • Skilled in chairside assisting for diverse treatments including endodontics, prosthodontics, pediatric dentistry, and other specialties
  • Excellent communication skills as a dental receptionist when coordinating appointments and patient flow
  • Knowledge of 3D scanners used in advanced diagnostics or prosthetic planning is advantageous
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment practicing four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency
